  • Weekly Reader
    It is once again time to renew our student subscriptions to Weekly Reader magazine. This news magazine is used extensively by all Carrillo teachers, and every Carrillo student is given his/her own personal copy.  This magazine allows all the children to participate in variety of weekly, classroom activities, covering a plethora of subject areas.
     
    Weekly Reader brings up-to-date information alive and is an excellent source of knowledge about real events in the world around us. The non-fiction and current event articles are not only interesting, but the comprehension and vocabulary enrichment activities really help children develop reading skills.

    Please send your donation in a check (made out to Carrillo School) or cash, to cover the cost of  your child's subscription.      You may pay for multiple children on one check. The cost is $5.00 per child, which just about covers the cost for the entire school year. (It’s a great deal!)  Also, if you are able to donate a bit extra it would really help defray additional costs covered by our PTO.

PTO Announcements

  • The Carrillo Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will be awarding the "Wings of Wise" $1,000 scholarship again this year.  This scholarship is named after Carrillo Elementary's past principal, Fred Wise.  It will be awarded to a graduating senior who attended Carrillo for at least one year.  The applications are due Friday, April 20, 2012.  Please click here for the scholarship application.

  • Dine Out at Islands/Encinitas on Wednesday, 2/29!  Come join other Carrillo families for dinner at Island’s in Encinitas between 4:00 and 9:00 and help support Carrillo Elementary!  Islands will donate 20% of all purchases back to Carrillo! No Flyer is needed :-) but remember to mention Carrillo!   • Parking Lot Raffle ticket on Sale (February 3-24, 2012):

    It’s that time of year again!!!  Parking lot spaces will be up for silent bid and raffle starting Friday, February 3-Friday, February 24, 2012.  As we all know the parking lot is quite a headache, unless you are lucky enough to score one of these primo spots!  To increase your chances of being the lucky one, make sure that you get your silent bid in by 2-23-12 and raffle tickets in by the morning of  2-24-12 to Kary or Mally.  We will draw the winners at flag salute on 2/24.  Look for us on Thursday and Friday mornings at the ticket booth in front of the school office this February.  Good luck!!!

  • February Edition of the Carrillo Authors webpage! We at Carrillo are so proud of all the students who submitted writing for our February edition of Carrillo Authors! Check it out! The site goes live with new content on Wednesday, February 1st. And…Carrillo students…keep on writing…the March edition is just around the corner!
