Recess Running Club What is the Tiger Track Recess Running Club? The Tiger Track Recess Running Club is a recess activity that students can do individually or with friends on TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS. Students in grades 1 - 5, teachers, parents and adult visitors may run or walk around the track located at the corner of the school during their grade level recess time. Mileage is recorded on lap tally charts by each teacher or volunteer. Goal: Guidelines: Each child is given the opportunity to earn Tiger Track Tags when they reach the following goals; 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 miles. Schedule: Volunteer stick distributors are needed to supervise our three different recess times; 5th grade-10:50-11:08 3rd & 4th grade-11:20-11:38 1st & 2nd -1:30-1:48 This is how it works: 1) Teacher will post a mileage lap tracking sheet on or near the door (4 laps=1 mile). 2) Students run around the field’s perimeter and collect one popsicle stick labeled T.T. (Tiger Track) per entire lap completed under supervised and designated recess times. 3) Students turn in T.T. sticks to teacher or designated volunteer to tally laps. 4) A fifth grade tracker will come to each classroom to check and reward students with Tiger Track Tags at the end of each month for goals 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. 5) A fifth grade tracker will also fill out an award recognition form for flag salute for students who have earned 50 or 100 miles. *Fifth Grade Tracker—Each grade level will be assigned a different fifth grade student to be responsible for checking the record sheet, rewarding students who have met their goals and collecting sticks at the end of each month. *Stick Distributer—volunteer who will distribute sticks to students as they run around the track *Volunteer—parent, student teacher, student, tutor, or other For ideas/comments/suggestions feel free to contact; Mrs. Burrows-Room 115 or Miss Fernandez-Room 215 |
